Where does your teak wood come from?                                                                                                                       Our teak is sourced from the sustainable plantations of Perum Perhutani, on the island of Java. These plantations are owned and managed by the government who has a strict policy with regard to the age, size and number of trees felled each year, together with a comprehensive sustainable replanting program.

What type of wood is teak?                                                                                                                                                Teak, Tectona grandis, is a dense, close-grained hardwood high in natural oils and rubber. These characteristics give teak strength and durability, making it virtually impervious to the effects of rain, salt, sun or snow and hence very resistant to rotting.

Can We Purchase full mixed container-loads from you?                                                                                            Yes, we are mixed item container-load (FCL) specialists. Our quality, best pricing and short lead times have ensured a world-wide customer base from  North America to Europe and the Middle to Far East.

Do you manufacture to specified designs?                                                                                                                  Yes, we specialize in the manufacture and supply of furniture to our customer’s specifications especially within the contract market locally and export.

 IS ALL YOU’RE FURNITURE SUPPLIED WITH A SANDED FINISH?                                                                                      We produce furniture with many finishes, from teak-oil to lacquer or from fine sanded to distress. Simply let us know your requirements – you shall not be disappointed.

CAN I KEEP MY FURNITURE OUTSIDE ALL YEAR?                                                                                               Yes, the properties of teak enable it to withstand the most inclement of weather – hence its use as decking on ships. However, it will get dirtier than furniture enjoyed during the spring and summer only. For storage we recommend an outhouse, garage or garden shed. However, please ensure that there is not a dramatic change in the heat and humidity as this can cause your furniture to crack.

WILL TEAK MAINTAIN ITS COLOR?                                                                                                                             Left untreated and exposed to the elements, teak will weather to a beautiful silver grey patina and darken slightly if kept indoors. Should you wish to maintain its colour, we would recommend applying our teak sealer, which will help your teak furniture maintain its colour for a much longer period.

WHAT IS FSC?                                                                                                                                                                            The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) is an international non-profit organization founded in 1993 to support environmentally appropriate, socially beneficial, and economically viable management of the world’s forests. The FSC trademark on a product indicates that the wood used in its construction comes from a source that has been certified by the FSC as meeting these standards.

DOES DECON USE FSC CERTIFIED TEAK?                                                                                                                        Decon designs is committed to the principles of the FSC and when possible use FSC certified teak in our furniture. However, currently there is not enough FSC certified teak available for our total production.

WILL CRACKS APPEAR ON MY FURNITURE?                                                                                                          Teak is a natural material and fine cracks can appear especially on heavier components and the end grain. This minor checking may appear or disappear depending on the relative humidity and weather conditions. This is a natural process and will not affect the strength or structural integrity of your furniture.

HOW IS YOUR FURNITURE CONSTRUCTED?                                                                                                         Where required, all of our furniture is constructed in the time-honored fashion of tight fitting mortise and tenon joints with teak dowels. This ensures robust, wobble-free furniture equally at home in your garden, or the high traffic areas of luxury hotels. Ours is the pacifier’s choice!

IS YOUR FURNITURE DELIVERED ASSEMBLED?                                                                                                   Where possible our furniture is delivered fully assembled, for your immediate, stress free, enjoyment. However, if unsure, please contact us for further details.

IS YOUR FURNITURE GUARANTEED?                                                                                                                          We for a period of one year that our products are fit for their intended purpose and are free from manufacturer’s faults or defects (this does not include small cracks or end grain checking).

DO I NEED TO SPECIFY A PARASOL BASE IF LOCATING A PARASOL THROUGH YOUR TABLES?            Yes, for safety reasons. See the Parasol section under the Products menu for our stand specifications / requirements.

CAN I SPECIFY ANY OF YOUR CHAIRS WITH YOUR TABLES?                                                                           Yes, all our chairs and tables are designed with the clarity of ‘form following function’. Therefore most of the chairs, benches and tables illustrated on the web-site share similar proportions and can easily be mixed and matched.

GUARANTEE                                                                                                                                                                                    We warrant all of our products for a period of one year from the date of delivery. If you find a defect in material or workmanship in any part or component, DECON will, at Decon’s option, repair or replace the furniture free of charge. “Defects”, as used in this warranty, are defined as imperfection in material or workmanship that will impair the use of the furniture product.

Under this warranty we are unable to exchange goods that have been treated, painted or modified in any way or bespoke items. In these cases we would repair any damage covered by the warranty.

In the event that you would like to claim under our guarantee please forward images of the damage to sales@decondesigns.com together with your order details. Please be advised that our product guarantee does not cover items shipped overseas.
